The development of agriculture, which is the main sector of the national economy, is successfully carried out in the country to ensure food security. At the first session of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, a Resolution was adopted to implement the decisions adopted on further improving the reforms in the agricultural sector and to effectively use land and water resources in the country. In agriculture, at least 70 percent of the land included in crop rotation in farms used for farming is used for growing wheat, cotton and other agricultural crops included in the state budget on a contractual basis, and the rest is used for crop rotation on a scientific basis to grow agricultural crops not included in the state budget, and the producers are given a lease for up to 99 years on condition that the established plan for the production of agricultural crops included in the state budget is fully implemented for the given total land area. Farmers are regularly supplied with combines, agricultural machinery, spare parts from developed countries. High-quality seeds are supplied with fertilizers.
